Exobiosphere Partners with Outpost to Scale Drug Discovery in Orbit
The agreement will enable Exobiosphere’s Orbital High-Throughput System (OHTS) to fly aboard Outpost’s reusable CarryAll vehicles, supporting repeatable research in microgravity and return of biological samples to Earth.
LUXEMBOURG - October 2, 2026 — Exobiosphere today announced an agreement with Outpost Technologies Corporation (“Outpost”) to fly its Orbital High-Throughput System (OHTS) aboard Outpost’s CarryAll platform, enabling repeatable access to microgravity and reliable return of biological samples and research payloads to Earth.
Exobiosphere is a space biotechnology company developing automated, high-throughput capabilities for disease research and drug discovery in microgravity. OHTS is designed to run thousands of experiments in orbit, including disease modeling and drug screening, with biological samples returned to Earth for downstream analysis. Through the agreement, Exobiosphere will leverage Outpost’s reusable orbital transportation and Earth-return capabilities as it scales its platform for repeatable research missions.
For companies building long-term research programs in space, getting a payload to orbit is only one part of the challenge. Experiments often need to return to Earth for testing, validation, further development, and commercial use. This capability is becoming increasingly important as the International Space Station (ISS) approaches its planned decommissioning in 2030 and commercial low Earth orbit (LEO) platforms begin to come online.
“Microgravity accelerates biology in ways we simply can’t reproduce on Earth, and demand from researchers and pharmaceutical companies to run experiments in orbit already far exceeds the capacity of the International Space Station. Free-flyers like CarryAll are how we meet that demand: flying more OHTS platforms, more often, and delivering on our mission to find ‘Cures from Space’,” said Kyle Acierno, CEO and Co-Founder of Exobiosphere.
More frequent flights shorten the loop between orbit and the lab, so results from one mission can shape the design of the next. That speed feeds directly into Exobiosphere’s partner programs, from cardiac tissue models to neuroinflammation screening. To make that cadence possible, Exobiosphere needs transportation infrastructure that supports both access to orbit and reliable return to Earth.
Outpost is building CarryAll to provide the return lane for orbital missions for customers that need more than launch access. The vehicle family is designed to host payloads in orbit and return cargo ranging from 200 kilograms to 10 metric tons, accommodating a single experiment module or a full commercial manufacturing payload within a pressurized, ISS-compatible environment designed to support sensitive research and technology payloads in orbit.
With reusable return, precision landing, and destination flexibility, CarryAll is intended to give customers a scalable path from early orbital research to larger-volume operations in space and on Earth.
“Biopharmaceutical companies are beginning to treat microgravity as not just a research environment, but ready for scale manufacturing for therapeutics,” said Jason Dunn, co-founder and CEO of Outpost. “For that market to scale, companies need dependable ways to fly payloads, operate them in orbit and bring them back. Exobiosphere is exactly the payload CarryAll is being built to serve.”
The agreement comes ahead of Outpost’s planned orbital mission in 2028 and adds another pathway to orbit for Exobiosphere as it works toward a regular cadence of OHTS missions.
