US Site & Business Development Manager

Location: Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California (On-site)

Reports to: CEO

Type: Full time

Eligibility: U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (required for federal grant eligibility)

Role Overview

Manage day-to-day operations and drive US business development at the intersection of biotech and space. This role bridges strategy and execution— identifying and converting US government (NASA, NSF, NIH, DoD) and commercial opportunities. You’ll collaborate closely with the broader team to align grants, contracts, and partnerships across regions. Ideal for a hands-on operator with strong BD instincts and experience navigating government programs in science and innovation as well as commercial contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Site Leadership: Manage daily operations of the US site, including program and contract management, compliance, and logistical support for local activities.

  • US Government BD: Prospect, qualify, and build relationships with US government agencies including NASA, NSF, NIH, DoD, and others. Develop stakeholder maps and cultivate program manager relationships.

  • Proposal Management: Lead the development of grant and contract proposals, coordinating inputs from internal scientists, external consultants, and technical partners. Ensure timely, competitive submissions.

  • Team Coordination: Manage a small, cross-functional team of technical and scientific consultants to support high-quality proposals and efficient project execution.

  • Strategic Alignment: Coordinate closely with the European team to ensure US contracts and grants align with Exobiosphere’s global roadmap and long-term milestones.

  • Operational Growth: Build processes that can scale US operations as the office expands post-fundraising.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in business, public policy, international relations, economics or a related field such as biotech management, government contracting, or science and technology policy. Strong preference for candidates who combine technical fluency with experience in operations or commercialization.

  • 10 years of experience in business development, federal grant or contract management, within the biotech, pharma, space, or defense sectors.

  • Demonstrated track record of securing or managing US government funding, including direct involvement in proposal development, grant writing, or contract execution with agencies such as NASA, NSF, NIH, or DoD. Experience should include navigating program requirements, working with agency stakeholders, and contributing to successful submissions or awards.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead proposals (SBIR/STTR, BAA, RFP, or equivalent) from initial concept to final submission

  • Strong organizational and project management skills; capable of juggling day-to-day site operations while driving external opportunities.

  • Comfortable working with distributed teams across time zones.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong attention to detail and execution.

  • Must have ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
