Electronics Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Electronics Engineer to support the design, development, and integration of electronic subsystems for spaceflight payloads. This role involves working across the full electronics development cycle—from schematic design and PCB layout to component selection, testing, and integration. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team to ensure system performance, reliability, and compliance with space-grade standards. Ideal for an engineer passionate about precision, space technology, and building hardware that operates in extreme environments.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical and electronics design of spacecraft payload 

  • Technical specification of electronics subsystems 

  • Design of PCBs according to ECSS and/or IPC Class 3, including analysis and simulation 

  • Selection, procurement and qualification of COTS/HiRel electronics subsystems, EEE parts and PCB assemblies 

  • Prepare and perform electrical testing campaigns (e.g. functional, performance, EMC, ESD) 

  • Assessment of system reliability, failure modes and safety of electronic components and systems 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve design issues during the development, testing, and integration phases, ensuring timely delivery of the payload

  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, thermal, and systems engineers, to integrate the electronics module with other subsystems.  

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in electronics, or equivalent work experience

  • At least three years of experience in electronics engineering

  • Ability to interpret and apply standards in the design and development process

  • Experience with PCB design tools (e.g. Altium Designer), impedance matching (e.g. microstrip, stripline), signal propagation delay, parasitics definition, crosstalk minimisation

  • Strong skills in preparing and maintaining technical documentation, including engineering reports

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the ISS environment for payloads  

  • Experience designing electronics for with ISS payloads  

  • Embedded systems (e.g. microcontroller and FPGA based).
