Senior Bioinformatician (Post-Doctoral Level)

Location: House of BioHealth, Luxembourg

Type: Full time

Role overview

Exobiosphere is seeking a Senior Bioinformatician (Post-Doc level) to join its R&D team and take ownership of hands-on bioinformatics and data analysis activities supporting space-derived biology, high-content imaging, and multi-omics data integration.

This role is execution-focused, embedded directly in R&D projects, and central to transforming complex biological datasets into actionable insights, models, and bioinformatics-driven product concepts. The position offers high scientific autonomy, close interaction with leadership, and exposure to strategic and commercial dimensions without people-management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Core Bioinformatics & R&D Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of complex datasets generated from space missions, high-throughput screening (HTS), high-content imaging (HCI), and multi-omics experiments.

  • Analyze and integrate genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, DNA methylation, and imaging data into coherent biological interpretations.

  • Curate, process, and integrate publicly available omics datasets with internally generated data to support comparative and longitudinal analyses.

  • Develop in silico models and data-driven representations of complex biological processes such as ageing, disease progression, and treatment response.

  • Apply appropriate statistical, machine learning, and AI approaches to extract patterns, identify biomarkers, and prioritize biological targets.

  • Work closely with experimental scientists to ensure bioinformatics workflows are aligned with assay design, sample constraints, and biological questions.

  • Contribute to data visualization, reporting, and interpretation for internal decision-making and external partners.

Product & Business-Facing Contributions (Light BD Component)

  • Help package bioinformatics outputs into clear, high-value analytical products (e.g. datasets, models, digital twins, reports).

  • Contribute to the definition of bioinformatics-driven service offerings, including implementation strategies and feasibility assessments.

  • Support discussions with external partners (pharma, biotech, space agencies) by translating biological and computational results into clear value propositions.

  • Provide technical input for grant applications, collaborative projects, and partner proposals when relevant.

Requirements

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, or a closely related field.

  • Post-doctoral or equivalent experience (academic or industry), with strong hands-on data analysis skills.

  • Proven experience analyzing large-scale biological datasets, ideally including multi-omics and/or imaging data.

  • Solid programming and data analysis skills (e.g. Python, R, workflow tools).

  • Strong understanding of experimental biology and ability to work closely with wet-lab teams.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple analyses, and deliver results in a fast-moving R&D environment.

Preffered qualifications

  • Experience with machine learning or AI methods applied to longevity biological data.

  • Familiarity with longitudinal or time-series biological data.

  • Interest in translational research, product development, or data-driven biotech services.
