AIT Technician/Engineer – Electronics & Mechanical Integration

Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated AIT Technician/Engineer with a strong background in electronics assembly and testing, as well as mechanical integration, to support the end-to-end Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) of payloads for spaceflight and ground qualification. You will work in a cleanroom environment, assembling and integrating both electronic and structural subsystems, preparing hardware for environmental testing.

Responsibilities

The Senior AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Testing) Engineer will lead the assembly, integration, and testing of spaceflight experimental platforms and related hardware. The work involves putting together precision robotics, environmental control systems, and optical systems for cell culture monitoring into integrated payloads ready for flight. 

Day-to-day responsibilities include designing test plans, coordinating testing procedures, troubleshooting hardware and subsystem issues, and ensuring compliance with aerospace standards. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams across mechanical, electrical, software, and biology to ensure systems meet performance specifications and operate reliably in microgravity environments. 

QA/PA (Quality Assurance / Product Assurance) 

  • Implement pragmatic QA/PA processes: inspections, hold points, checklists, and acceptance criteria. 

  • Drive nonconformance handling (NCRs), root-cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and lessons learned. 

  • Support configuration management: document control, revision tracking, and as-built records. 

  • Contribute to reliability and safety practices (risk awareness, workmanship standards, handling/ESD practices). 

Requirements

  • Expertise (at least 5 years) in Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) of complex hardware systems 

  • Strong skills in systems engineering and mechanical design 

  • Experience with aerospace standards, quality assurance, and compliance 

  • Problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting 

  • At least a bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field 

  • Experience with space projects or in the biotechnology industry is a strong advantage
