Junior Design Engineer – Microfluidic Systems

Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Junior Design Engineer with early-career experience in space engineering to support the development of microfluidic systems for space-based experiments. You will work on flight hardware intended for parabolic flights and long-duration missions in microgravity environments (e.g. Haven-1, ISS, or free-flyers).
Responsibilities
Support the mechanical and fluidic design of microgravity-compatible lab systems.
Contribute to CAD modeling, prototyping, and testing of space-grade microfluidic components.
Assist in the development of hardware for parabolic flights and analyze data from flight tests.
Interface with electrical, thermal, and bioengineering teams for integrated payload design.
Support design documentation, including interface control documents and test reports.
Participate in environmental testing (vibration, thermal, EMI) and design-for-launch constraints.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Biomedical Engineering.
1–2 years of engineering experience.
Familiarity with microfluidic system design, particularly for biology or drug screening.
Hands-on experience with parabolic flight hardware design, integration, or testing.
Proficiency in CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Fusion 360).
Experience with technical documentation for aerospace or lab systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to pressurized payloads, middeck locker form factors, or Haven-1 payload integration.
Familiarity with spaceflight standards (e.g., SSP 57000, ECSS).
Passion for space biology, microgravity research, or high-throughput screening platforms.
