Post-Doctoral Researcher

Location: House of BioHealth, Luxembourg

Type: Full time

Role overview

At Exobiosphere, we operate at the intersection of space and translational medicine, pioneering the future of drug discovery by leveraging the unique conditions of microgravity to accelerate the development of new therapies. Our Orbital High-Throughput Screener (OHTS) platform is built to transform the pharmaceutical landscape and position us at the forefront of space-based research. This is an opportunity to join a visionary team that is advancing science while redefining commercial possibilities in space. We offer competitive packages and a dynamic, collaborative environment at the House of BioHealth in Luxembourg.

Responsibilities

Literature Review & Innovation

  • Stay informed about developments in the space and terrestrial biotech field, with particular attention to disease modeling and drug discovery.

  • Propose and explore new methods or technologies to improve workflows compatible with space biotech operations.

Disease Modeling, Phenotyping & Experimental Design

  • Develop and characterise advanced 3D models — patient-derived and cell-line organoids, and co-culture systems.

  • Establish phenotypic and functional readouts to interrogate disease biology, target identification, and treatment response.

  • Design, develop and validate HTS/HCI assay protocols ensuring robustness, reproducibility, and scalability.

  • Validate assay methods to ensure they meet all QC standards.

  • Operate high-throughput screening campaigns using automated liquid handling systems, high-content analysers, plate readers, and robotics.

Data Analysis & Interpretation

  • Analyse large datasets using bioinformatic and statistical software.

  • Summarise and present results during team meetings and prepare detailed reports.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with scientists, bioinformaticians, and engineers to optimise lab methodologies for operation in space.

  • Participate in internal and external meetings, presenting data, discussing challenges, and proposing solutions.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and protocol modifications.

  • Ensure all experiments comply with institutional guidelines, safety regulations, and ethical standards, particularly when handling hazardous materials or sensitive biological samples.

Requirements

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a similar relevant field.

  • Proven experience in advanced 3D cell culture, and disease phenotyping.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Passion for innovation and a desire to contribute to transformative research.

  • Legal right to work in Luxembourg (visa, residency, or work permit).

Preffered qualifications

  • Strong experience in the oncology field for disease modeling and phenotyping, specifically organoids and co-culture approaches.

  • Genetic engineering expertise, with hands-on CRISPR-Cas9 experience.

  • Proven experience in lab automation, high-throughput and high-content methodologies, and drug discovery pipelines.
