Role overview
Exobiosphere is looking for a Lead Bioinformatician to drive innovation in computational biology while contributing to the development of space-derived data services. This role combines technical leadership in bioinformatics with strategic input to help shape our portfolio of data-driven solutions for pharma, biotech, and other industries.
You will design analytical pipelines, guide the integration of complex datasets, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. At the same time, you will help envision and prototype bioinformatics services that leverage Exobiosphere’s unique access to space-based high-throughput screening (HTS) data.
This is a hands-on role for someone eager to combine scientific excellence with business-oriented thinking, while mentoring junior colleagues.
Key responsibilities
Technical Leadership
Design and implement robust bioinformatics pipelines for processing and analyzing datasets from space-based HTS experiments.
Integrate and analyze multi-omics data and develop in silico models to support drug discovery and biological insights.
Act as technical lead on bioinformatics projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables and alignment with company goals.
Apply machine learning and AI tools for data processing, predictive modeling, and target identification.
Stay current with emerging bioinformatics technologies and trends to ensure innovation within the team.
Strategic & Business-Oriented Activities
Work closely with leadership to identify and develop a portfolio of services based on insights derived from space biology and computational biology data.
Contribute to defining value propositions for these services and translating scientific outputs into offerings tailored to pharma, biotech, and cosmetics industries.
Develop bioinformatics business models to commercialize space-derived data services effectively.
Lead the creation, development, and execution of strategic plans for bioinformatics offerings, ensuring alignment with company objectives and market needs.
Support the implementation of pricing models and scalable solutions for external partners.
Collaborate with the commercial and scientific teams to position bioinformatics as a key differentiator for Exobiosphere.
Proposal Writing, Reporting & Project Planning
Contribute to the preparation of scientific and commercial proposals for external funding and collaborations.
Draft technical reports, white papers, and publications to communicate results to stakeholders and partners.
Participate in project planning, including defining milestones, timelines, and deliverables.
Provide input on resource allocation and cost estimation for bioinformatics components of multi-disciplinary projects.
Collaboration & Mentorship
Partner with pharmaceutical, biotech, and academic stakeholders to deliver bioinformatics insights and solutions.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior bioinformaticians and contribute to their technical development.
Qualifications
PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, or a related field.
5–7 years of experience in bioinformatics, with prior experience in a senior or lead role.
Strong expertise in bioinformatics tools, workflows, and data analysis in pharmaceutical, biotech, or related fields.
Experience in designing analytical pipelines and working with large-scale multi-omics datasets.
Familiarity with machine learning, predictive modeling, and commercial applications of biological data.
Experience with writing scientific proposals, preparing technical reports, and participating in project planning and budgeting.
Proven ability to contribute to business model creation and execute strategic plans for data-driven services.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across scientific and business teams.
