AIT Technician/Engineer – Electronics & Mechanical Integration

Location: House of BioHealth, Luxembourg

Type: Full-time

Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated AIT Technician/Engineer with a strong background in electronics assembly and testing, as well as mechanical integration, to support the end-to-end Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) of payloads for spaceflight and ground qualification. You will work in a cleanroom environment, assembling and integrating both electronic and structural subsystems, preparing hardware for environmental testing, and ensuring readiness for flight operations under the supervision of senior engineers.

Responsibilities

Assembly & Integration

  • Perform hands-on mechanical and electronic integration of flight and ground models, including:

Installation and alignment of mechanical components, fasteners, and structural interfaces.
Assembly of electronic modules, PCBs, harnesses, connectors, and sensors.

  • Integrate electromechanical subsystems, ensuring correct mechanical fit, electrical routing, and interface compatibility.

  • Adhere to cleanroom protocols, ESD protection, and contamination control standards at all times.

  • Support the preparation of integration procedures, drawings, and configuration documentation.

  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers during subsystem fit checks and integration campaigns.

Testing & Verification

  • Support functional and environmental testing (e.g., vibration, thermal vacuum, electrical verification) of payloads and subsystems.

  • Execute continuity, insulation resistance, and functional power-on tests using standard test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply).

  • Assist in test setup preparation, operation of data acquisition systems, and documentation of test results.

  • Participate in troubleshooting activities, supporting root-cause analysis for mechanical or electrical anomalies.

  • Contribute to test procedure development, checklist execution, and test report generation.

Support & Documentation

  • Maintain strict configuration control and traceability for all tools, parts, and materials used in AIT.

  • Accurately record all integration and test activities (as-run logs, inspection sheets, NCRs).

  • Participate in flight readiness reviews, hardware inspections, and close-out documentation.

  • Collaborate across disciplines to ensure the payload meets mechanical, electrical, and functional requirements before delivery.

Requirements

  • Technical diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).

  • Prior hands-on experience in aerospace, electronics manufacturing, or laboratory integration/test environments is strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency in electronics assembly, soldering, and harness fabrication to high-reliability standards.

  • Competence in mechanical assembly and alignment, including torque control, bonding, and precision hardware installation.

  • Familiarity with electromechanical systems, connectors, sensors, and cable management.

  • Experience using test and measurement equipment (multimeter, power supply, oscilloscope).

  • Basic knowledge of PCB design, rework, and debugging is a plus.

  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings, schematics, and assembly procedures accurately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in space payload assembly (e.g., CubeSats, ISS hardware, small satellites).

  • Familiarity with PCB layout tools (Altium, KiCad) and electronic CAD documentation.

  • Understanding of aerospace standards (ECSS, IPC, NASA), environmental testing, and flight hardware qualification processes.

  • Experience in mechanical fit checks and harness routing within constrained enclosures.
